Yes, we've utterly failed as modern blogging parents. It's been several months since we posted last, and they've been a busy few months for a certain little monkey. There was, of course Halloween:

Dean was a scarecrow. Mommy put his costume together because everything made for kids his size, is made for kids aren't walking. It was widely acknowledged that he was the most adorable scarecrow ever.

Then, over Thanksgiving Weekend we went to visit Grandpa John and Grandma Yvonne. Dean also went to visit Hank for his first very first haircut. Hank was the barber who gave daddy his last professional haircut in 2002.

We went to Matt & Jackie's housewarming pajama party where Dean rocked out on the drums. Yeah!

Then there was Christmas and the snow!

And now, our little man is 19 months old. Holy cow how time flies. He knows several of his colors. Orange is a favorite right now. Does his puzzles. He feeds the kitties every night and brushes his teeth before bedtime. He helps mommy and daddy with their exercises and loves to read his books. Anything with doggies or dinosaurs is a favorite. He's good at cleaning up (although he's better at making the messes to start with, but aren't we all?) He loves coloring and never gets tired of having mommy and daddy draw kitties. So far the only food he doesn't like is grapefruit, but we think that's mostly because he doesn't understand why those oranges taste funny.

Today, at a picnic, Dean slipped and fell. He landed on his face and bit his lip pretty hard. There was quite a bit of blood, but he recovered quickly. He's got quite the fat lip to show for it though.

Dean turned 8 months old this week and it's been a busy one. He's crawling now. Not in the typical "hands and knees" style, but much more in the style of an army crawl on the belly. But whatever you want to call it, he moves across a room fairly quickly. He's over 16lbs. and is consistantly still the happiest baby you'd care to meet.

He's been sick quite a bit still. A minor cold that comes and goes. He had a bout of roseolla, and this weekend he seems to have had a reaction to something because he wasn't holding food down at all. He seems better today though.

He's still playing with language, and while his statements are getting more deliberate, they're not yet distinct enough to understand. He's funny as heck too. We did a Valentine's photo shoot for him, which came out pretty good. And of course, we did one with his bear. He's getting pretty big. Enjoy.

Dean's 4 month appointment was today.

He is now 23.5" long and 12 lbs. 6 oz.

Those measurements are ~4th % according to the doctors charts and ~30% for weight vs height. According to the WHO charts he is 1.5% for weight and 0.9% for length, 26.9% for weight vs. height.

The pediatrician is very mildly concerned about his head circumference. It is 42 cm, or ~50%. Average for his age, but fairly big for his size. He said we would just monitor it and not worry about it for now.

His testicle is still undecended (which I knew). Not a problem, just continue to monitor. We will see the surgeon again in two months if it has still not dropped.

His doctor is very pleased with his milestones. He very consistently rolls from his stomach to his back. he does roll from his back ot his stomach, but only on occasion. He loves to stand and hold our hands. He is very alert and interested in everything going on around him and smiles at everyone all the time.

He got most of his vaccinations, but they were out of the oral rotavirus one so we have to go back next week for it. I am happy that it is the oral one so he doesn't have to get shots two weeks in a row.

He is a champ when getting shots. He fussed after the first one. Started crying after the second, continued crying for the third. Daddy picked him up and he very quickly (seconds later) was laughing at the nurse who gave him the shots.

The doctor said to start him on solids soon. I am a bit torn on that. I am definitely waiting until his cold goes away, but i just don't think he's ready yet. He shows no interest what so ever in food and he has a pretty strong tongue thrust still.

A 4 month update will be posted soon, but I am going to wait until his 4 month doctor’s appointment next week.
